Growing up, when people asked if I played a sport. I would respond "no, but I dance."
It took me years to give myself credit for the athleticism required to be a dancer. The love and deep understanding for proper posture and body mechanics. For stretching, for breathing, for graceful movement and disciplined training.
My childhood hip hop teacher (love you Brea!) didn't just teach me how to pop it and lock it, she taught me how to look in the mirror and say damn, I love that woman I see... and really, truly mean it. Each week, we wouldn't just dance. We'd sit and talk and and feel our feelings, which is a forum not typically experienced, but so desperately needed.
Fitness isn't just exercise, it is the art of nourishing your mind, body and soul out of a place of deep respect for your being.

While the clients that I've worked with have celebrated some major physical accomplishments, such as reducing the need for medication (!!!), the emotional gains are my favorite. Things like an improvement in posture with an improvement in confidence and self-esteem.
